Meet the Cast of “The Nearlywed”

 Karen Kay as Madison Tupper

Karen is pleased to be back at McSweeney’s for her third show.  She attends Bethany Bible College and graduates in May 2012 with a BA in Music.  Karen has travelled in several performance groups and was Assistant Director of her college choir.  Some of her greatest accomplishments include directing part of The Living Christmas Tree in 2010 and her college choir on their CD Songs of Deliverance.  Karen is excited to play Madison in this production “The Nearlyweds.”  She hopes that all your relationships will grow to be as perfect as Madison and her fiancée, Gerrard.

 Cody Harrison as Hector Ledwell

Hailing from the same tiny town as Anne Murray herself, this Springhill, NS boy is very excited to be returning for his 5th show with McSweeney’s in the production of “The Nearlywed”. His former character as Stuart Stewart in “Canada Eh!” was a memorable and goofy character, but he is excited to be playing the loveable loser, Hector Ledwell, in the upcoming production.  He hopes you enjoy lots of laughs and walk away with a few tips for fixing your hopeless marriage.

 



  Daniel Lovely as Scotty Ledwell

Daniel hails from the incredibly small town of Springhill N.S.  After receiving his Performance Arts and Recording Technology degree from Mackenzie College he moved to Moncton to pursue a career in Music.  This will be Dan’s 5th performance at McSweeney’s with shows under his belt such as “Who Shot the Boss?”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “Gone Country” and most recently as Parker Simms in “Canada Eh!”  Daniel is very excited to mess up some promising marriages in “The Nearlywed” and you should be too! 

 

 Kyle Birt as Blaine Muxworthy

Kyle comes from PEI and with him, brings his ambitious love for music. He is incredibly excited to be a part of McSweeney’s upcoming show “The Nearlywed”. This will be his fourth show with the company and he has expressed how excited he is to be working with such a talented cast.  Kyle urges you to check out the show when it launches, as it’s sure to give a tug at your heart strings.




 Gabriel Caissie as Gerrard Schnettis

Gabriel was born in 1980 in Lamèque in the Acadian Peninsula and has been playing bass since the age of 15.  His classical music formation as a double bass player started at the University of Moncton and pursued his studies in performance at the University of Montreal.  Over the years, Gabriel has played with many orchestras and ensembles such as Symphony NB.  He has also worked with many signers and song writers in the Maritimes and has been part of Mason’s Tender for the last four years.  This is his first time performing in McSweeney Co. Dinner Theatre and he is very excited about it.

 

Véronique Hébert as Natashia Derevko

 Born and raised in Dieppe, Véronique studied classical voice at Université de Moncton and now studies musical theater. She is a past member of the N.B. Youth Orchestra and the N.B. Youth Choir and present member of Voce 'dell Anima choir, her love of music has always fueled her passion for life. She has played roles in two opera productions with UdeM and also sang the lead in a comedic opera this past summer. Véronique is excited to share her very first McSweeney's experience with her hometown crowd!!

 

 

Meet The Directors
Alicia Altass Director
Alicia is from PEI but spent many years in New Brunswick- attending Mount Allison University in Sackville, teaching high school music in Hartland, and having some fun on this very stage in  Drift Away. Alicia has directed several full scale musicals including Footloose, and Copacabana, and several dinner theatre shows. Favourite performance credits include Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, Nina in Norm Foster’s Looking and Eva Peron in Evita. Alicia is currently completing her graduate degree in Child and Youth Study from MSVU and script writing for Feast Dinner Theatres on PEI.

 

Bobby McIsaac Music Director
Bobby McIsaac was born in Florenceville, NB.  He has been a professional musician since 2005.  This has allowed him to hone his skills, tour Canada, and learn many valuable life lessons.  During his time with the band Telfer, they were able to win CBC’s Galaxy Rising Star award, have their debut album Born This Morning nominated for a Music Nova Scotia award, and play for hundreds of thousands of people.  Bobby has performed in seven dinner theatre shows in Feast Dinner Theatre in PEI as well as one at Grafton St Dinner Theatre in NS.  This will be his seventh show music directing at McSweeney’s starting with the acclaimed Beatles show Can’t Buy Me Love and continuing up until the most recent Canada Eh?!
